Kelli Busbee LMFT, LPC-S, NCC
Hi! I'm Kelli, and welcome to Family Ties Counseling!
I am a National Certified Counselor, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and a Licensed Professional Counselor in Slidell, Louisiana. I have my Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy, Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership and Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction, with a concentration in gifted education.
I was raised in 'Da Parish' (Meraux, Louisiana), but moved my family to Slidell in 2002. I have been happily married for 27 years and am a mom to two beautiful children. Since 1998, I have spent my professional life as a teacher at several schools, with the last 11 years of my career in administration. I have since retired from the school system after 23 years in the education system. I opened my practice in 2018, where Family Ties Counseling was born.
I am excited to offer my services to the community that my family and I call home. I specialize in Marriage Counseling, Family Counseling, Individual Adult Counseling, and Individual Adolescent Counseling (7th grade and higher). I aim to provide high-quality counseling and care to those in need of such services.
Philosophy
Why I Do What I Do
Counseling provides a therapeutic relationship where you can explore issues and work towards personal growth and healing. It presents an opportunity to remove obstacles and make healthy decisions that can lead towards reconciliation and healing. It gives you the opportunity to learn new ways of thinking and behaving that help restore balance and freedom to your life.
Counseling allows you to explore the past within the context of the present and provides a platform for healing, freedom and experiencing joy. It provides a place to learn about your true identity and gives you the opportunity to experience a change of heart and deep healing.
Therapy provides the platform to grow physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
My counseling philosophy also rests on the principle that each individual and each relationship is unique. This means I will incorporate various counseling theories and techniques based on client need. While some clients may only need counseling for a short period of time, others may need additional time to reach their goals. I work hard to tailor each experience to fit the needs and goals of each client. If I am not the best fit, I will connect you with someone else who can better suit your needs.

About
Kelsi Cavin Counselor Intern
As a mom of four and a military spouse, I understand the incredible strength and adaptability a military household and marriage must possess. However, the constant transitions, deployments, and the demands of raising a large family can take a toll.
My approach is centered on fostering resilience, navigating life changes, and addressing the specific challenges faced by military families. I provide support in managing anxiety, depression, and the emotional impact of frequent moves and separations.
Together, we can build on your existing strengths and develop practical tools to navigate these unique circumstances.

About
Brittany Campo Counselor Intern
Over the past four years, I’ve made the transition from nursing to Clinical Mental Health Counseling—a journey that’s been both transformative and deeply rewarding. While the path has brought many changes and challenges, it has also been a time of meaningful growth. Nursing will always be a part of who I am, but above all, I remain committed to being a lifelong learner and healer. Healing comes in many forms and is not a one size fits all. It doesn't always look like a dramatic breakthrough or a single “aha” moment.
Sometimes, healing is subtle and quiet- it’s setting boundaries, forgiving yourself, choosing rest, or even asking for help. Healing has always fascinated me- not just the physical healing that I have witnessed as a nurse, but the emotional healing that happens beneath the surface.
Naturally, becoming a therapist feels like a natural extension of my desire to walk with people through their most human experiences- their most difficult times. I want to create a space where individuals, couples, and families can feel seen, heard, and supported- especiallly in the moments when life feels overwhelming.
